Mirt opens Household Employment Agency in Dallas
In 1956 the 33-year-old businesswoman was ready to start her own company, Household Employment Agency.
Mirt had just moved from Houston to Dallas with her mother Rose Ella, her new husband Rick, and her teenage son Howard and daughter Betty. You can see a picture of Betty and Howard in the corner of Mirt's new office. Jack Ruby helped Mirt find office space on the Northeast corner of Elm and North Lamar Street, a block away from his Carousel Club. Rick and Mirt used to meet at the Carousel Club while she was setting up her business and he was looking for work as a maintenance man.
